Being Mortal by Atul Gawande

Atul Gawande is a surgeon, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical imgresSchool, and award winning author of several books which offer a glimpse into the struggles of his profession.  His latest, Being Moral: Medicine and What Matters at the End, tackles the toughest subject of all, death and dying, and gives his thoughts on how medicine is failing us at the end as well as how it might do better. I'm blown away by his writing, at once erudite and deeply personal, as well as his compassion and courage.  This book ought to be required reading for every medical professional and indeed for all of us.
